PURPOSE

AMEDIIC - Associação Mediálogo - Investigação, Intervenção e Capacitação aims to promote cross-cutting dialogue spaces where theories, research and practices related to mediation are disseminated, training and outreach activities promoting mediation are developed, and mediation services are provided to meet the needs of the contexts in which it is proposed or requested.

OBJECTIVES

i) to provide mediation and training services through qualified professionals;
ii) to develop education programs for peace and conflict prevention;
iii) to create communication spaces to debate (at the individual and organizational level) critically, innovatively and constructively, differences and disagreements;
iv) to promote the sharing and reflection on theories, research and practices of mediation, bringing citizens closer to mediation;
(v) to disseminate experiences of mediation between diverse contexts and social actors;
vi) to reinforce the political and emancipatory aspect of research in order to contribute to the change and improvement of professional practices and the contexts in which they develop, aiming for a more democratic, just and humane society;

vii) to enhance opportunities for (re)cognition, affirmation and development of mediation.

Knowledge and Creativity

Knowledge differs from person to person. It is the result of a set of information, experiences, beliefs, values, and insights unique to each individual. However, knowledge is only achieved through the creativity of allowing ourselves, in a flexible and open way, to embrace multiple understandings and forms of knowledge.

Communication and Coexistence

Human behavior communicates in different ways: words, silences, gestures, and/or inaction. Communication, therefore, presupposes the transmission of information from one person to another. When this communication is positive and well understood, it allows us to immerse ourselves in balanced and harmonious coexistence processes essential to life in society.

Diversity and Inclusion

Valuing diversity means valuing all ways of being, thinking, acting, and existing. A culture based on diversity breaks down stereotypes, cultivates principles such as empathy, listening, and understanding, and promotes inclusion. Diversity and inclusion empower each of us in a positive and constructive way.

Critical thinking and respect

We live in an era where it is imperative to be critical of the environment and situations that surround us. Inquiring, refuting, and debating are essential foundations for the development of stimulating learning environments. In these environments, respect for others must prevail first and foremost. Presenting, accepting, and acknowledging different opinions, values, and interests is one of the first steps towards a healthy and peaceful society.
